同一套chemistry,唔同嘅distribution model
兩隻brand都係semi-permanent direct dye,冇developer、冇oxidation。Pigment deposit入漂咗嘅頭髮個cuticle加埋outer cortex,靠洗退色,唔係靠長返出嚟(漂過嗰段攞咗色嘅頭髮會keep住有色、直到剪走為止;新長嘅regrowth就係natural色)。Active dye chemistry屬同一個family:cationic basic dye(Basic Red 51、Basic Violet 2、Basic Blue 99、Basic Yellow 87同similar)加埋HC dye(HC Blue 15、HC Blue 2)。兩隻brand都靠chromophore size同class嘅差異去做fade differentiation,呢點篇24有講:warm shade用較細嘅azo同related cation chromophore,fade快啲;cool shade用較大嘅fused-ring chromophore,嚟自anthraquinone同naphthoquinone family,persist得耐啲。
差異唔係喺dye chemistry。差異係喺distribution model:

Pulp Riot淨係ship俾licensed professional cosmetology channel。Brand自己嘅Artist Locator喺pulpriothair.com寫住個site係「intended for US consumers」、surface唔到HK或者亞洲嘅listing。Pulp Riot嘅parent L'Oreal Professional Products Division將個brand distribute去美國、加拿大、加埋部分歐洲市場;HK唔係喺officially嘅distribution map入面。Catalog有40隻intermixable semi-permanent shade,cover 12個named collection(OG、NeonElectric、Raven、Fantasy、NeoPop、Elemental、Shadow、Wild Ride、70's、Cosmic、Sin City、Impulse)。Pulp Riot仲ship埋一套完整嘅in-salon system(Faction8 permanent、Liquid Demis demi-permanent、BlondeAF powder lightener),MP冇對應呢一套,因為MP做嘅係直接賣俾consumer,stay喺semi-permanent呢條lane度。
Pulp Riot喺HK:availability gap

Longevity嘅問題
Pulp Riot marketing copy quote「up to 50 washes」for semi-permanent shade。MP quote Classic 4至6個禮拜、Amplified 6至8個禮拜。Translate到同一個scale,兩隻喺漂咗嘅頭髮加color-safe care之下大約都係30至50 wash range。對一個HK customer一個禮拜洗3次頭嚟講,即係cool family大約10至16個禮拜嘅useful color life,warm family大約6至10個禮拜。「Last longer」嘅brand、實際上係你maintain得好啲嗰隻。Cool family persist得耐、warm family fade得快呢點,兩隻brand共享,因為underlying chromophore chemistry一樣。
